Specialist motorcycle coaching
Build the skills ordinary road training does not cover
Develop gravel confidence, track technique, slow-speed control, practical maintenance knowledge or motorcycle-specific crash response with focused Passmasters courses.
Choose your goal
What do you want to improve?
Each course targets a different real-world riding challenge, from controlling a large bike at walking pace to managing a crash scene.
Gravel & Adventure
Build confidence on gravel roads, mud, inclines and uneven surfaces.
Track Coaching
Develop technique in a controlled circuit environment without race-day pressure.
Slow Skills
Master U-turns, confined manoeuvres and precision control.
Maintenance
Learn everyday checks, adjustments and practical fault finding.
MotoMed
Learn scene management and motorcycle-specific first response.
Gravel and adventure basics
Stay relaxed and in control when the seal ends
Designed for road-going adventure motorcycles, this course develops the core techniques needed for gravel roads and changing grip. Routes may include mud, water or river crossings when conditions and rider confidence allow.
- Bike setup and standing position
- Smooth use of throttle, clutch and brakes
- Hazard scanning and line selection
- Loose-surface cornering and braking
- Inclines, cambers and picking up the bike
Tyres: the South Head course requires at least an adventure-style tyre. Route content varies with weather and conditions.
Track coaching day
Learn more about your riding in a controlled environment
This is coaching rather than an open track day or race event. The circuit gives riders space to work on technique without normal traffic, intersections or roadside hazards.
- Progressive braking and corner entry
- Vision, lines and reference points
- Body position and bike dynamics
- Smoother throttle application
- Individual feedback from experienced coaches
Requirements: a couple of years of road experience, a roadworthy motorcycle with good tyres and no leaks, full-face helmet, gloves, boots and suitable protective gear.
Slow-speed motorcycle control
Make tight spaces feel manageable
Slow Skills is designed for riders who feel awkward during U-turns, parking, tight weaves or walking-pace manoeuvres. The course uses structured exercises inspired by police motorcycle training.
- Offset cone weave
- Tight 90-degree turns
- Linked low-speed direction changes
- Precision braking in confined spaces
- Clutch, throttle, rear-brake and vision coordination
Basic motorcycle maintenance
Understand your bike before a small problem becomes a big one
This practical course is for everyday riders rather than qualified mechanics. It builds confidence with the checks and maintenance tasks that support reliability and safer riding.
- Tyre condition and pressure
- Chain adjustment and lubrication
- Oil and filter basics
- Brake inspection and bleeding
- Common fault finding and breakdown preparation
- Looking after riding gear
MotoMed rider responder
Know what to do in the first critical minutes after a crash

Before you book
Specialist courses have different requirements
Check the individual event page carefully because motorcycle type, tyres, experience and protective equipment vary between courses.
Use the right motorcycle
Track, gravel and slow-skills courses each place different demands on the bike. Contact the team when suitability is unclear.
Prepare your equipment
Roadworthy condition and suitable protective gear are essential. Track and gravel courses may have additional requirements.
Choose the right experience level
Specialist training is not a substitute for learning basic motorcycle control. New riders should begin with learner or on-road coaching.
Specialist training FAQs
Questions before choosing a course
Do I need a Full licence for specialist training?
Requirements vary. Track coaching expects meaningful road experience, while maintenance and MotoMed are suitable for a wider range of riders. Check each live event page.
Can I use a hire bike?
The normal Passmasters hire fleet is focused on eligible licensing and Ride Forever bookings. Ask the team directly about any specialist-course motorcycle requirement.
Is track coaching a race day?
No. It is a structured coaching day focused on technique, control and learning in a circuit environment.
Will gravel training include river crossings?
It may, depending on the route, weather and group. Core gravel skills are the main focus and no rider is required to attempt an unsuitable section.
Do I bring my own motorcycle to maintenance?
Event instructions explain the workshop format and what to bring. Check your confirmation or contact Passmasters before the date.
Is MotoMed a general workplace first-aid certificate?
MotoMed is motorcycle-specific crash-scene and rider-response training. Check the event listing if you need confirmation about any formal certification requirement.
