FULL FAQ'S
CBTA Full Licence (6F) – The Last Step to Two-Wheeled Freedom
How Much Does It Cost?
Just $160 – cheaper than a new set of tyres, and way more fun than sitting at the AA for hours.
When Can I Take the Assessment?
Got your Restricted Motorcycle Licence? You can do your CBTA Full Licence (6F) assessment as soon as you’ve had it for 9 months.
The catch? You can’t actually upgrade to a Full Licence until you’ve held your Restricted for 12 months – but you can get the test done early and tick it off the list. Future You will thank you.
Where Are Full Licence Assessments Held?
We run CBTA Full Licence assessments from:
Albany • Henderson • Westgate • Botany • Orewa • Pukekohe • Hamilton • Tauranga • Taupō
So whether you’re cruising the Shore, the Waikato, or the Bay, we’ve got you covered.
Do I Need My Own Bike?
Yep* – and it needs to be LAMS approved. Check the official LAMS list here.
*No bike? No worries. You can hire one from us at Hobsonville or Pukekohe for just $40.
To book, email info@passmasters.nz or call 09 947 9409.
What’s Involved in the CBTA Full Licence Test?
This is your chance to prove you’ve mastered the art of safe, skilled riding.
-
You’ll be followed by an NZTA-approved CBTA assessor on their own bike.
-
Communication is via our top-of-the-range 2-way Bluetooth intercoms (so we can give feedback without shouting at traffic lights).
-
The ride focuses on higher speed zones – where hazard awareness, positioning, and smooth control really matter.
How Long Does the CBTA Full Licence Take?
The riding portion takes 25–30 minutes, but allow up to 1 hour for the briefing, paperwork, and a bit of banter.
Do I Need Training First?
Not technically – but if you want to ace it first go (and ride better for life), we highly recommend our Ride Forever Silver Course.
It’s designed to sharpen the exact skills you’ll need for your 6F assessment.
The best part? It’s only $50 thanks to ACC subsidies. That’s about the same as a tank of gas… for a scooter.
